Irish Down Marquette In Corrigan's 300th Win At Notre Dame
NOTRE DAME – Notre Dame's Baumer Family Head Men's Lacrosse Coach Kevin Corrigan reached a milestone only two other coaches have achieved in the history of men's lacrosse at the NCAA Division I level on Wednesday, recording his 300th win at Notre Dame.
No. 12/10 Notre Dame (5-4, 1-2 ACC) used an impressive second half performance to defeat Marquette (6-4, 2-1 Big East) by a final score of 13-6 at Arlotta Stadium.
With the win, Corrigan moves into a tie for second place for all-time most wins at a single school in Division I men's lacrosse history, joining UMass legend Dick Garber. Corrigan is now just 11 wins away from passing Delaware's Bob Shillinglaw (310) for the all-time record.
Junior Bryan Costabile was great in the attack, scoring a team-high four goals in the victory. The other Irish player to finish with multiple goals was sophomore Morrison Mirer, who recorded a career-high two goals.
The Irish defense turned in one of its most complete performances of the year, holding Marquette to six goals, which is tied for the fewest goals the team has given up this season. Junior Jack Zullo was stout between the pipes stopping 12 shots to stifle the Golden Eagle attack.
